Saturday, January 21st is the 20th Anniversary of USA Dance Greater Fox Valley Illinois Chapter 2042 . Please join us as we enjoy the featured dance, the "Merengue". Special Opening Time of 6pm !
Saturday, January 21st, the Greater Fox Valley Chapter of USA Dance, in conjunction with St. John's Lutheran Church of Algonquin, is having a "20th Anniversary Celebration and Buffet" from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be plenty of delicious food available. We are asking you to kindly bring a dish to pass, either an appetizer or dessert. Three will be a minimal donation of $2.00 per person for the church’s food pantry which needs to be replenished.
To help work off the calories, a free Merengue dance lesson will be taught by us at 7:45 pm. Merengue is one of the easiest Latin dances to learn and a lot of fun. Music is provided by Dr. Rod featuring swing, ballroom and Latin music. A play list will be provided which suggests what dance to do to each song. There are door prizes and a 50-50 drawing and other surprises. The event will be held at St. John's Activity Center, 300 Jefferson Street, downtown Algonquin. Admission is $8 for USA Dance members, $10 for seniors age 65 and up and $12 for non-members. Attire is dressy casual. Join us for a fun evening of dining, socializing and dancing!
A very Happy New Year to you and yours filled with good health, happiness and plenty of dancing! Hope your holidays were excellent. Ours was hectic and fun but I am really glad they are over.
Mother Nature did not cooperate the night of the December dance. There were weather warnings out but we proceeded anyway. It was very snowy and slippery and we were advised that the snow plows would not be out for quite awhile so we thought it best to cancel the dance for the safety of all. Bless John and Linda Troester for their bravery and loyalty who traveled from the Gurnee area to help set up for the dance that had to be canceled.
It seems like yesterday when the Greater Fox Valley Chapter of USA Dance was formed. Originally dances were at Miller’s Hayloft. From there we traveled to Johnsburg Community Center, McHenry VFW, Dole Mansion, Woodstock VFW and various other venues from time to time. Currently, the dances are being held at St. John’s Activity Center which provides plenty of dance room in a pleasant atmosphere. In turn, the GFV Chapter helps out with the church’s food pantry and other charities. This year we are celebrating a milestone…our 20th Anniversary!
